Department of Scandinavian Studies
The teaching and research areas of the Department of Scandinavian Studies include Ancient and Modern Language, Literature and Cultural Studies as well as language courses for Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Icelandic. Furthermore, there is an additional teaching and research focus on Baltic Sea Region Studies with language courses for Lithuanian.
The Department of Scandinavian Studies is part of the Institute of European and Comparative Linguistics and Literary Studies (EVSL), which also includes the departments of Finno-Ugrian Studies, Dutch Studies, Comparative Literature and, since 2020, the Chair of Yiddish Literature and Cultural Studies and the Digital Philology working group.
